There are two mechanisms for finding the .cdsplotinit. The default is to look in the IC installation ( /tools/dfII/local/.cdsplotinit), the home dir and the working dir (I think it loads all of them). However, if it has been configured to use "CSF" (Cadence Search File) then it may be looking in other locations. So, try doing: cdswhich -lookupconfig .cdsplotinit to see if it says that it's using CSF (please post the output). If it is using it, then look for: cdswhich setup.loc and then look at this file - it should tell you the locations where the file could be placed - hopefully one of those is writable... Andrew.
