Well, in a layout context (and a little light googling would show you this - just for interest I searched for "LEF layout", "LDE layout" and "LLE layout" and there's clear explanations. LEF is indeed the Library Exchange Format, often used to transfer representations of layout to physical implementation tools. It's not normally used to represent entire layout, but often to represent technology data and abstract representations (including pins, blockages etc) which are useful in place and route tools - they don't then need to deal with the complexity of the full layout within a cell/block Layout Dependent Effects - this includes effects such as LOD (length-of-diffusion), STI (Shallow Trench Isolation), WPE (well proximity effect) and other effects where the behaviour of a device is dependent upon the layout in the proximity of the device - stress, etch and other related effects Local Layout Effects - I was less familiar with this one, but as far as I can see it's just another term for LDE - it has the same meaning in the various literature I found. Regards, Andrew.
