It may be that your technology file is incomplete - not sure. I would suggest contacting customer support because debugging this from a picture in a public forum is unlikely to resolve this very easily, unfortunately.

I have come across some layout views which contain no devices, and have no corresponding schematic. However, cv~>lxInternal and cv~>lxInternal~>source are defined with db IDs, and items like cv~>lxInternal~>source~>lib return an empty string, eg "". Using setq or the equivalent cv~>lxInternal = nil to try to remove the lxInternal attribute results in the values to instead be redefined as "FALSE", which just creates different problems. eg cv~>lxInternal = nil then cv~>lxInternal will return the value "FALSE" How do you remove the lxInternal attribute from a layout cell view that has no corresponding schematic view?

I have also tried lxSetConfigRef("libname" "cellname" "layout" "NONE") and lxSetConnRef( "libname" "cellname" "layout" "NONE"), but the lxInternal attribute and lxInternal~>source etc remain unchanged.

I am trying to clone resistor chains so they can be all matched. In the generate clones form I do a search. The tool finds the instances in the pattern mostly. It selects instance name in other chain. How to I edit the clones found to change the instance name? When I click edit i can only change the position of the instance under connectivity target menu not the instance name.

Dear Jayanta, To add to Andrew's comments after I perused your spectre.out file, did you happen to see the two warnings that suggest the potential sources of your convergence error? 1. The first warning suggests you should set the value of tstab manually in lieu of relying on an automatic assignment of its value (you have it set to "Decide automatically"). Under your GUI panel, set the value of tstab manually (under "Transient Aided options"). I might also suggest you check the radio button to allow you to study the tstab transient results to further verify its settling with the value of tstab you choose. 2. The second warning indicates you have not set an appropriate number of harmonics (Andrew's suggestion in his post). Forum Post: Using custom via variant during layer transition
Hi, I know this is probably obvious but I can't seem to figure it out. Is there a way to use custom via variants during via selection in the wire layer transition mode? I'm trying to figure out a way to change the number of rows/columns of vias when changing layers during the "wire" command. When creating a wire the default via creates only a 1x1 via for the given wire size as shown in the picture (left). I want to specify to use a minimum of 2 vias as shown in the next picture(right). I made a via variant for this but it's not available in the options in the layer transition. Is there an option to do this? Currently after creating the wires I go and change the property of each via stack and add a row. Thank you, Eugene

"stuck" is a bit non-specific. It rather depends on what you're doing at the time and what has got "stuck". This makes far more sense to discuss via customer support , as you're really going to have to provide more details - especially if it's a repeatable problem. Andrew

Dear Shawn, Thanks for replying. I tried to overcome both the warnings. 1. Tried with giving manual Tstab of even 1us. 2. The harmonics also increased to 16 for tone 2. But still not converging. I am wondering whether its because of the digital output at the Frequency detector circuit i.e. there is a non periodic signal(digital signals) at the output of the Frequency detector for whicih HB/PSS is not converging. It certainly seems as both of these values should be sufficient to address the two warnings in your spectre.out log file. Did th wirings change or were they eliminated with the increased value of Tstab and number of harmonics? I took some added time to review your GUI and log file and noticed a few items that I would suggest. Andrew may have other or more fruitful suggestions as he often does! 1. I noticed you did not include a negative node for /VCO_OUTPUT in your harmonic balance GUI. I could see from what looks like your ADE-L or test configuration window you did include /gnd! as the second node in a different analysis. I would add your second output node (see Figure 1) 2. If the "digital output" you note is a digital signal, it will clearly have more harmonic content than your near sinusoidal VCO. Yet, on the GUI panel, as shown by the note in I circled in Figure 1, the harmonic with the most harmonic content should be your first tone listed. In your GUI, it is the second tone listed. Perhaps you might change the order of your two tones so the one with the greatest harmonic content is listed as #1. 3. Since you are still experiencing convergence issues, I would also consider setting errpreset to "conservative" in lieu of your "moderate" setting (Figure 1) 4 You also did not check the radio button for the multi-tine harmonic balance option in the GUI (Figure 2) 5. You might also considering reviewing the application note on multi-tone analyses at URL: support.cadence.com/.../ArticleAttachmentPortal I hope these provide some insight into your convergence problem!
