Forum Post: RE: Run analogLib/fourier before stop time

Sorry, that’s the bit I don’t know how to do. Assuming it’s even possible. I don’t know that you can change the strobe period either (it would be via the analog command, but I don’t think you can do it). Those are the kind of things that would need some research and experimentation... Regards, Andrew

I found that if I remove the instance(s) that the net in question is connected to and re-instantiate it this issue is fixed. I went ahead and made the changes in each cell but this was a rather inconvenient brute force fix. I think there must be a more elegant solution I'm missing.

The CIS iteration code is different because it is a separate data set from the Capture information. The CIS table and Capture property tables reference each other by Refdes? Odd. But, I guess there's a reason for it. Thanks!

Last question, what do people use for Tk? The Bom generation example has GUI code I would like to tweak.

I was wondering if someone could provide some good documentation on creating custom bus taps? I would be nice to create something that could have directional arrows.

Hi Andrew, Thanks for your reply. I tried the command you suggest, our Cadence version is the the latest one however I got the error " Unmatched '. " when I run this command on command line. Would you please let me know if you can help me to find the problem? Best Wishes Mohammad

Forum Post: RE: Differential pair constraint region problem

Hello, I am having a similar problem. I am using OrCAD PCB Designer Professional 17.2-2016 S049. This issue just started to happen when I changed around the constraints to match a stack-up I just received. I am not sure which specific constraints might be causing this, but when I do lay down trace in the way you described (not automatically changing when in F3 and crossing into or out of the region), needing to click inside/outside the region once to see the change. Also, once I finish routing the net, I have no DRCs, so it is hard to pin point what constraint is the issue. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

What is the alternative in .cdsenv? How do we write the same command in .cdsenv?

Hello Friends, Here i have situation to move the components from existing location by keeping angled placement. Component is placed in 75 degrees angle. and i have a requirement to move by keeping same angle. Can anyone suggest how i can achieve this movement accurately

There isn't an alternative to do this in the .cdsenv file, and there is no "command" you can use in the .cdsenv file. Mainly because it doesn't make sense because: .cdsenv is a file containing the names and values of Cadence-specific variables. This is not "code" (it's not a programming language), and these variables are not UNIX environment variables - they are settings specifically for Cadence tools (in particular Virtuoso) .cdsinit is a file containing SKILL code executed at startup. Because it's written using a programming language, you can perform a wide range of different operations, including interacting with UNIX environment variables as we've shown above. Regards, Andrew.

Hi Mohammad, That's because you would need to type it in the CIW, not the UNIX command line. Or you should put it in your OCEAN script at the beginning. Regards, Andrew.

When you move parts they will keep the same rotation angle so your question is not clear. However, you can move a group of components with the option "User Pick" in the option window and move by X,Y units. Or you can move the group using a polar rotation by selecting a rotation point in polar move mode.

Forum Post: How to Disable visiblity of only Dynamic Copper shape

Hi, I am using OrCAD PCB Designer 17.2 version. I have to make only the copper pour invisible(hide) and want to see only the routed tracks. If I disable the visibility of Etch for that layer on Color dialog box, both Tracks and Copper shapes are getting hidden. How to solve this issue, because while routing I don't want to see my copper pour. I tried using the shape transparency(set it to low) in color dialog box, but that will leave the outline visible. I don't want to see any outline as well. Kindly help me with this issue. Regards, Chadga

Thanks for your kind response, Here the requirement is to move a single component in angle as shown in previous image with arrow marks in red colored. And the given movement requirement( Refer image ) we can not consider as X and Y movement in layout X & Y since Components X& Y are not aligned to tool X&Y. I hope the below image will give a clear information about the requirement.

I see. So before launching a virtuso I have to give either of the following commands at the unix prompt? Type this at the working directory 1. For bash export GF_PDK_HOME=/home/grps/ef-test/GLF8HP/130HPSIGE-8HP/V1.8_1.1HP 2. For csh setenv GF_PDK_HOME /home/grps/ef-test/GLF8HP/130HPSIGE-8HP/V1.8_1.1HP Thank you so much Andrew.

Hello, did you get any solution to this? I encounter the same issue. The copied cell is just blank after performing the copy.

Of course, you could also set it wherever you're setting up the path for the software, the environment variables for the licensing and so on. That might be done in your ~/.cshrc, ~/.login or ~/.bashrc, or you might be using modules or something similar to configure your UNIX environment. You don't necessarily need to type it each time, and you could (as both Max and I have said) put a setShellEnvVar() call in your .cdsinit to set the environment variable there. Regards, Andrew.

Use the command Check - Constraints (or Display - Constraints) then either pick the cline or draw a window to encompass both halves of the diff pair. This will then tell you which rule (constraint) is being applied and you can then find out what is wrong.

Close PCB Editor, open a windows file explorer window and type %HOME% into the address bar followed by a return. This opens your HOME directory. Go into the pcbenv folder and open the env file with a text editor and add the following entry set shape_layer_visibility_env into the section above ### User Preferences section then save and restart. You should now see a Shp checkbox in the visibility pane next to each layer.
