Hi Sutha, I think it is possible.

Forum Post: RE: Orcad pin ignore missing in latest version.
Lennie, on those multi section symbols I think it is far easier to just open the symbol in the editor and remove the extra ground and power pins on the sections that don't need them, clean up the graphics and then just save the symbol. Doing this will mean your symbol is right out of the gate so to speak and the sections A,B,C,D etc will look good on the page. It seems like having to manipulate the pin sections is just an extra step that's not needed ?. Here is a two section symbol on the schematic page. Section B used to look like Section A. I removed the extra power pins and cleaned up the graphic stub for those pins. Works good and can be done in a few seconds. If I need to use that symbol on another project then it is ready to go straight from the library. Only proviso is to remember to name each section value the same otherwise you will run into netlisting issues. For example if the value of section a is NE5532 then section B should be the same.

Forum Post: RE: problem creating symbol of netlist subcircuit
,where is the "setup" tab located
It's in the Analog Design Environment (so ADE L, ADE Explorer or the ADE XL test editor) window. Since ADE is responsible for controlling netlisting and this is used to specify which views are picked for netlisting, it's going to be in the ADE window and is not something that would be in the hspice text, spice text or schematic window. There's one caveat though - if you had been using a config view (created by the hierarchy editor) as to the top level for your design (i.e. having the design specified in ADE as lib/cell/config), then the switch view list and stop view list no longer appear in the Setup->Environment form; that's because the precise control of how the hierarchy is expanded is then defined in the config view. A very quick tutorial on netlisting. Generally the netlisters in Virtuoso work by having the concept of a "switch view list" and "stop view list". They start by looking at all the instances in the top cellView, and then for each instance they look along the switch view list (in order) to determine whether any of those views exists for that component that is instantiated. If a view exists, it will descend into that view to potentially netlist that view. If the view that was switched into is in the stop view list, then the hierarchy expansion stops and that is as low as the netlister goes - you'd just get an instance statement but no further expansion is performed for that component. Alternatively you can create a config view with File->New->CellView and specifying the type as "config". In this, you start off specifying a view list and stop list within the config which sets the default expansion, but then you can fine tune the expansion by specifying the view to use for a cell, an instance, or an occurrence in order to override the global expansion criteria. You can also alter the view list for a portion of the hierarchy, or explicitly mark a cell as being a stop point, or even being "bound to open" to omit it altogether. If you open the top design from within the config, you'd see your configured schematic and when you descend down the hierarchy interactively, it will follow the rules specified in the hierarchy editor. Similarly running ADE with the top design as this config view (if you start ADE from such a configured schematic it will do this automatically), it will follow the rules specified in the hierarchy editor to govern the expansion of the hierarchy. Regards, Andrew.

Forum Post: RE: hiCreateReportField... passing arguments to its callback
Hi Andrew, Basically you are right about what I meant in this case. I try your suggested inputs in the code above but I did not get the right location where it will be place. I try to put it in the abAddField and change the error_lay_ hilo into "choices" (this is the variable that you gave in your reply to our latest conversation) the next line that you gave I input it after hiCreateAppForm. Do I missed something about the code? For an instance I want my report field to be blank, then after I click add button it will be added to the report field then it gets updated after every add. Thanks for the help Andrew. Regards, GP14

Forum Post: Toggle in schematic view 'Dynamic Net Highlighting' between On and Off using bindkey
Hi all, In a schematic view, I would like to toggle 'Dynamic Net Highlighting' between On and Off. When I set only the envSetVal, it does not work. The only way I found is to call schHiDisplayOptions() and make a hiFormDone(schDisplayOptionsForm) : if( envGetVal("schematic" "schDynamicNetHilightOn" 'boolean) then envSetVal("schematic" "schDynamicHilightOn" 'boolean t) envSetVal("schematic" "schDynamicNetHilightOn" 'boolean nil) envSetVal("schematic" "schDynamicNetHilightNoIslands" 'boolean nil) print("Disable Dynamic Net Highlighting") else envSetVal("schematic" "schDynamicHilightOn" 'boolean t) envSetVal("schematic" "schDynamicNetHilightOn" 'boolean t) envSetVal("schematic" "schDynamicNetHilightNoIslands" 'boolean nil) print("Enable Dynamic Net Highlighting") ) hiRegTimer( "hiFormDone(schDisplayOptionsForm)" 1) schHiDisplayOptions() Is there a way to do it without calling schHiDisplayOptions? Forum Post: RE: Toggle in schematic view 'Dynamic Net Highlighting' between On and Off using bindkey
Hi Eric, It seems that the control for these enhanced highlighting options is not via the usual window property approach, but instead uses some private SKILL functions to enable it or disable it. I suggest you contact customer support because I think it's reasonable that we should offer some procedural way of enabling/disabling the capability which doesn't involve you having to mess with a form to do so. So I think it's a valid enhancement request for a public SKILL function to do this. Andrew.

Forum Post: RE: Is there any shortcut, bindkey to bring up CIW window quickly?
You can easily define one - the command that you'd put in the bind key string would be: "hiDeiconifyWindow(hiGetCIWindow()) hiRaiseWindow(hiGetCIWindow())" This copes with it being minimised as well as being hidden. Andrew

Forum Post: RE: Simulation crashed - Killed by user
If you use ADE-XL or Assembler, The "Killed by user" errors might also appear in case you are firing up more than 1 runs with "Reassign immediately for new run" option enabled in 'Job Policy Setup' form and have set "Run in" option from Series to Parallel in 'Run Options' form. In this case, once the second run is fired up then some of the already running jobs in the first run are getting killed forcing spectre to get killed as well (spectre.out reports "Killed by user") and then are reassigned to the new(second) run. When those jobs become available again, then the sim for the "incomplete" points of the first run (where spectre was killed) re-starts again. To avoid such cases you need to enable "Wait until currently running points complete" instead of "Reassign immediately for new run" in 'Job Policy Setup' form. Not sure if your case is the same but thought it's worth checking. Regards Dimitra

Forum Post: VHDL view to use in heirarchy editor
Hello, I am very new to mixed signal simulation using cadence virtuoso. I want to simulate a design which includes an ADC(analog) and a digital logic. The digital part of the design includes blocks written in verilog as well as VHDL. I created a config view and imported all the digital design files. I use functional view for the verilog files but not sure which view to use for VHDL as these files are listed as behav and entitiy views. Also virtuoso does not list the heirarchy for VHDL part of the design although it looks fine for verilog top level block. regards,

Forum Post: RE: Is there any shortcut, bindkey to bring up CIW window quickly?
Is this the correct command for CIW windows? hiSetBindKey("Schematics" " F3" hiDeiconifyWindow(hiGetCIWindow()) hiRaiseWindow(hiGetCIWindow())") Also how would you do it for Library Manager? I don't know how to write bindkey command yet.

Forum Post: RE: Simulation crashed - Killed by user
Thanks. I am using version IC6.16-64b.101 and not aware of 'Job Policy Setup' form. I did a quick search and saw that it is in ADE XL. Where can I change it in ADE L?

Yes, that would do it for schematic windows. You can’t define bindkeys for the library manager.

Forum Post: What layers and files are used to produce a Milling file?
What layers and files are used to produce a Milling file? I am using Cadence 17.2 and the layer I used before for producing a Milling file appears to have changed. Can anyone tell me what files are needed or which layer is used to define the Milling!
