Hello. I am trying to export changes from Design Entry HDL schematic to brd file but I got an error: =========================================================== Start Constraint Override Import Constraint File: C:/Users/shchyuchkin.e/Documents/SOS Workareas/Projects/1310EU015_Angstem_FET/worklib/1310eu015_angstrem_fet/packaged/pstcmdb.dat Start time: Tue Apr 07 13:56:05 2020 =========================================================== ERROR: Schematic supports creating XNets using DML Models but the Layout will create XNets only for devices having XNET_PINS properties. Change setting in Layout or Schematic, re-generate files, and re-run the flow. ERROR: Can't import electrical constraint data (pstcmdb.dat) =========================================================== Finished Constraint Update Time: Tue Apr 07 13:56:05 2020 =========================================================== I am not using XNets and I tried different export settings. I have read several topics with the same question: https://community.cadence.com/cadence_technology_forums/f/pcb-design/43528/exporth-physical-after-creating-schematic-to-make-a-brd-file https://community.cadence.com/cadence_technology_forums/f/pcb-design/38866/export-physical-error But I didn't found XNets settings in constraint manager window. I got such settings: So I can't continue working with PCB. Help me please to solve this problem. Thank you.

Forum Post: Allegro System Architect 17.2 Project Settings not Opening
I have been working on a an ASA 17.2 project for the last 6 months. When I go to Project --> Settings, the settings window does not open. The tool indicates that a window is open, as I cannot click on anything else in the project. But it does not show the Settings window. This has been happening only for the last 2 months. Before that it was working fine. If I send the project to my colleague, the settings window shows up for him.

Forum Post: RE: Display Instance name in Layout
Thanks for the answer Andrew. The problem was that I opened the layout from the library manager. I fixed this issue by launching my layout from my schematic. Best regards, Sylvain.

Hi Sylvain, I can't really see why that would matter, but at least you have a way forward. Andrew.

Forum Post: RE: How to set ADE-XL/Maestro to a given position and size
skillUser Andrew Beckett Good morning, I have discovered a linux command (maybe you know it) that gives both the coordinates and dimensions of a given window. So, you can do the following: position and stretch any window the way you want enter, on a linux terminal, the command "xwininfo" click the window you would like to get the information from You should end up with a result like the one below. xwininfo: Please select the window about which you would like information by clicking the mouse in that window. xwininfo: Window id: 0x2400003 "Terminal" Absolute upper-left X: 2 Absolute upper-left Y: 57 Relative upper-left X: 2 Relative upper-left Y: 26 Width: 1917 Height: 1067 Depth: 24 Visual: 0x23 Visual Class: TrueColor Border width: 0 Class: InputOutput Colormap: 0x20 (installed) Bit Gravity State: NorthWestGravity Window Gravity State: NorthWestGravity Backing Store State: NotUseful Save Under State: no Map State: IsViewable Override Redirect State: no Corners: +2+57 -1921+57 -1921-54 +2-54 -geometry 190x52+0+31 Best regards, Pedro PS: I am sorry if you already knew this.

Or rather more simply, in Virtuoso you can find this out using: hiGetAbsWindowScreenBBox(hiGetCurrentWindow()) (the numbers are slightly different because it doesn't include all the window manager decorations, I believe). You can move the window using hiResizeWindow(...) Andrew.

Thanks Andrew. Is it possible to associate those instructions to an event triggered when the maximize button is pressed? The goal of all of this is to resize the window for a given size, without maximizing it. The reason behind this, is that I am using VNC Viewer to control multiple monitors, buy they are seen as one monitor. Anytime I pressed the maximize button will span the windows across all monitors. So I would like to redefine what the maximize button does to fit one screen only. Thanks.

Forum Post: How to access Metal enclosures over Via
Hi All, I am trying to access Metal Enclosures over Via using the via~>viaHeader~>overrideParams however, for some via I do get the layer1Enc and layer2Enc and for some I don't get the Via Enclosure. I get these below outputs a=geGetSelSet() a~>viaHeader~>overrideParams ((("cutRows" 4) ("cutColumns" 1) ) ) However the Metal Enclosures are as follows Metal1 Metal2 Left 0.5 0.8 Right 0.5 0.8 Top 0.5 0.8 Bottom 0.5 0.8 Please tell me if I doing something wrong in this. [/quote] No, sorry. There's no trigger mechanism for this. The maximise button is part of the window manager, and not directly accessible by Virtuoso. I did wonder whether hiRegZoomPanProc would help, but maximise doesn't necessarily trigger a redraw, so it doesn't get called. Andrew.

This one is off-topic. Have you ever thought of writing a book about SKILL? I would buy it. :-)

I am new to using OrCAD but other packages I've used support the ability to view and/or import gerber files, including the free tool Design Spark PCB ! Surely a professional package such as OrCAD can perform this ?

Forum Post: RE: Is there a way to access/modify external data from enterfunction doneProc without using globals?
Hi Andrew, Thank you! Yes a function object would be the ideal solution but I can see where that might be difficult since it would have to be called from within the skill event loop. For now I will use a global variable. I'm not too concerned about two of my enterfunctions being active at the same time but I may implement the global as a lookup table to allow for that just in case. Thanks again! -Harry

The capability is there so you can review gerber files generated by Allegro and for design reuse. I may have used it to avoid re-laying out a P-CAD archive of designs to make FAA re-cert easier. Allegro is limited by the Gerber 274x format it is willing to accept. This P*DS shop had CAM350 which we used to reformat the data before import.

Hi Pedro, I've considered it - the main challenge would be finding the time. Writing a book takes quite a bit of time and juggling that with all the other things I do would be a challenge. Many years ago I considered (and started) co-writing a book on another EDA topic, but it was just going to be a huge time sync. Maybe I'll have another think about it (no promises!). Anyway, if you've not seen it, maybe in the meantime this video of a webinar I presented last year might be of interest: Writing Good SKILL Code Andrew.
