I restarted my cadence session few days ago and had forgotten to set the number of jobs to something greater than 1 in the job policy. Well, this doesn't explain why two simulations have been able to run, not just one, but when I increased the number of jobs, then the pending sims started again.

Forum Post: Pitch in Unsteady FINE/Turbo

When I try to simulate an unsteady case of my turbine, I get this error: !PITCH ANGLE OF THE MESH SHOULD BE THE SAME AT R/S After reading the manual, I found that I need to change the number of my guide vanes to match the number of my rotor blades. Is this correct? What is the best method?

For unsteady simulations, you must have the same periodicity on both sides of the R/S interface. If there are 12 vanes and 24 blades, you can use one vane and two blades. Either simulate the full 360deg or find a common periodicity (as explained above). Otherwise, if you have 12 vanes and 25 blades, you must approximate them to 24 blades and simulate them with one vane and two blades because there is no common periodicity in this case.

You would need to be using the "Advanced Methodology" release ICADVM20.1 or better still (since ICADVM20.1 is end-of-release), use IC23.1. FINFET nodes are not supported in IC6.1.8, and some of the related features (associated snap grids, width-spacing patterns, colouring) are not available in that release. Andrew

You may want to consider the Nonlinear Harmonic Method. You can find it in the Fine Turbo documentation under "Dedicated Turbomachinery Models" >> Harmonic Model. In that way you can keep the number of guide vanes to match reality and to mesh only one passage of the guide vanes and one for the rotor blades, even if they have a different periodicity.

Forum Post: Updating Modules in Layout with Pulse Module Manager

The Pulse environment enables the creation and management of modules for individual blocks in a design. These managed modules can be directly consumed in the main PCB. If a Pulse-managed module undergoes changes at the module level, the changes can be synchronized with the main PCB where this module is consumed through the Pulse Module Manager. You can launch the Pulse Module Manager in Pulse-enabled PCB Editor using Place > Pulse Module Manager . The Pulse Module Manager displays a list of all version-managed modules related to the active board design and the count of how many times each module is instantiated in the layout. It also displays the status of each module with respect to its schematic and Pulse version. If the module is in sync with its schematic or Pulse version, the status will appear in green. If any change to the module has been made and committed to the server, the Update Available column shows a Y with the updated module version number. Select the module and click on Import Latest to update the module in the board. Read the article here to know more about Pulse Module Manager. Team DesignTech Cadence Design Systems

SPB 23.1 release HF03 onward, PSpice Simulator provides support for parallel simulation to generate faster simulation results and to improve performance for the following analysis types: Monte Carlo analysis Parametric analysis Temperature Sweep analysis To enable parallel simulation runs, use the following options: . OPTIONS ENABLE_PARALLEL_MONTECARLO for Monte Carlo analysis .OPTIONS ENABLE_PARALLEL_PARAMSWEEP for Parametric analysis .OPTIONS ENABLE_PARALLEL_TEMPSWEEP for Temperature Sweep analysis You can also define the maximum number of parallel jobs to be completed in a simulation using the following syntax: .OPTIONS MAX_PARALLEL_JOBS = Note: The maximum number of parallel runs will depend on the available cores in your system. Forum Post: RE: Importing .cgns file to fidelity Turbo

Hi, Could you successfully import CGNS files based on the documentation extract of the earlier reply? Maybe your CGNS file was of a more recent version than the one supported in Fidelity? For the import of meshes that you previously created in Fidelity, it would be helpful to have more info of the steps you performed: Which version of Fidelity did you use? Which steps did you perform to create and save the mesh? Which steps did you perform to import the mesh? Best regards, Colinda

In the Fidelity Simulation user guide (v 2023.2) you can find the "Numerics Multigrid" section under "Numerical parameters". It explains what is the "current grid level" and the "number of grid levels". I understand you have put the "current grid level" to 0 (the finest) and the number of grid levels to 1, correct? If I misunderstood: Can you share a screenshot of your Numerics tab? Which version of Fidelity are you using, and which solver? Can you please also show in the Mesh context your settings that provide you 3 grid levels? Best regards, Colinda

Hi Avant, this reminds me of oversizing distances due to grid. If the lines cannot be placed at the exact distance part for example the tool may choose the safest position. I would check the routing grid used which may have been affected by a design unit change. Also check slide options such as gridless option and the bubble settings. Test if this makes a difference.

Forum Post: RE: CAPTURE PDF NET NAMES are not aligned how can i align it?

I also have this issue, according to this post from 4 years ago it is due to the way underscores are handled by postscript. https://community.cadence.com/cadence_technology_forums/pcb-design/f/pcb-design/46702/net-alias-name-not-aligned-schematic-pdf No solution was offered then. Would be nice if Capture could fudge the output to lower them by the amount postscript moves them up... Mine isn't quite as bad as yours though:

Hello everyone, I did a layout of a schematic circuit and I passed the DRC test but I can't seem to launch the layout versus schematic test because it fails to generate the netlist everytime. I have the error " Schematic export failed or was cancelled. Please consult the transcript in the viewer window". It's especially weird because my collegue helped me and I did the same steps as him but I get the error and not him. The skill consol indicates that there is an error in netlist procedure : "*ERROR* Error Detected in netlisting, netlist bypass flag set. *ERROR* Could not find netlist procedure : 'ansCdlCompPrim_b55x' component : npnxhs named : /Q0 in cellview : schetest/schematic of library : test

dear all, A new warning regarding "Xcelium" occurs after our Linux env. update, as shown in the next thread. so I believe this should be something related to the environment variable setup. also shown in the same picture, the path of "xrun" has been clearly identified by cadence so is there any explanation about this discontinuity, or any further setup to help cadence evoke "xrun"? look forward to your opinions. many thanks.

The PDK environment is not loaded correctly. The ansCdlCompPrim_b55x netlist procedure is not defined. Which PDK are you using?

The PDK of BiCMOs55x of Stmicroelectronics : PDK_STM_BICMOS055X

This is defined in '$DKITROOT/DATA/PLIB/PLIB.simrc' Loaded from PDK_STM_BICMOS055X.simrc. Assuming you have these files in the PDK you need fix PDK environment setup.

Forum Post: Residuals

$

Hello Everyone, I've been having some trouble getting my Simulation (using Open Solver) to converge to the Residual I want (-4). I'm using coarse grid initialization and 3 grids for the Simulation. on the first two grids it looks fine, but as soon as the finest grid is reached the residuals don't drop anymore and seem stuck on one value (above -4). I'm trying to understand what could be causing that. What might help me further is understanding what type of Residuals I'm dealing with; hence my main question would be: How are the representative residuals calculated in fidelity (what metric is being used? L1,L2...). Maybe a convergence criterion of -4 is too high depending on the metric that's being used to get the representative residulas. Thank you!
